Additionally, the website has a number of online and print publications.

Proxy Server Information

To gain full access to online resources denoted with (proxy), a subscription to that service is required. Fortunately, most universities already have access, and therefore, only a university connection or a proxy server to the university is required.

To configure Firefox 2.x to access the UCSD proxy server on a Windows computer:

  1. Click on Tools on the menu bar, and select Options.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Click on the Settings button.
  4. Click on the radio button next to “Manual proxy configuration”.
  5. Type in “webproxy.ucsd.edu” in the field next to HTTP Proxy.
  6. Type in “3128″ in the field next to Port.
  7. Click on the OK button.
  8. Click on the OK button again.
  9. The next site you visit will require you to enter your UCSD login and password. After this, you will be connected to the proxy server.

To configure Internet Explorer 7.x to access the UCSD proxy server on a Windows computer:

  1. Click on Tools on the menu bar, and select Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Connections tab.
  3. Click on the LAN Settings button.
  4. Check the check box next to “Use a proxy server for your LAN”.
  5. Type “webproxy.ucsd.edu” in the field next to Address.
  6. Type “3128″ in the field next to Port.
  7. Click on the OK button.
  8. Click on the OK button again.
  9. The next site you visit will require you to enter your UCSD login and password. After this, you will be connected to the proxy server.
